Spotify is one of the largest music streaming services in the world. Unlike competitors that offer a fixed number of stations, you have the option of creating your own playlists and select your own music by using the service. Though there are free and premium accounts available usually, the Spotify add-on for Kodi requires a premium account to use the service. You may sign up for one at the end, but we will show you how to install the add-on first.
Spotify Download and Install Guide
Before we get started, we need to download the file that is located here. Once you click on the link, you want to download the zip file that is labeled repository.beta.emby.kodi-1.0.5.zip. Now, the version of this add-on maybe different. Be sure you remember where you saved the file, so you can find it easier.
Go ahead and open Kodi, and go to settings under the system heading.
Now that you see the familiar gear screen, select add-ons.
And now select the install from zip file heading.
It is finally time to navigate to the file you downloaded earlier. Make sure it says repository.beta.emby.kodi-1.0.5.zip, or some version of that file.
Then, wait for the pop-up that says the add-on is enabled.
Now, go back to the heading that says install from repository.
By doing this, you will bring up all the different repositories you have access to. The one you will want to look for is called Kodi Emby Beta Addons.
Clicking on that heading will give you other options. Since you want to add Spotify, you want to select the Music add-ons option.
Within this heading, you see that there are only 2 options at the moment, Emby and Spotify. Choose the Spotify option.
Now, you have the option to install. Go ahead and Install the add-on.
After clicking, wait for the pop-up message. As you can see, if the add-on installed correctly, the left side of the screen should show Spotify as being enabled and you should see the notification message in the lower right hand corner.
Though the add-on is installed, it must still be configured. Click on Spotify on the left side of the screen.
This next screen is where you enter your information for the premium account. Again, you need to have a premium account to use this add-on. The free Spotify add-on will not work.
Be aware that you will have to leave Kodi and go to Spotify to allow the plugin. It will work as soon as you grant the plugin permission. That is all there is to the Spotify add-on. Providing you have a premium account, you can listen to Spotify just as you would if you were using other methods. Please share our guide with your friends so they can get the most out of Kodi.
